General FAQs
How do I order an insurance policy?
We run a completely online service and so to order a standard policy (either
ChancelSure® or
ConveySure®) you need only to log into the website and select the policy that you require. Once you have entered the details for your chosen policy and clicked "order", the policy and invoice will be emailed to you within seconds. If for any reason our standard policies are not appropriate for your case please contact our underwriters for a bespoke quote:

I don’t have a post code for the property (or the postcode I have is not recognised), how do I order a ChancelCheck® search?
You can order the search using the grid references for the property instead. If you have had an environmental search carried out on the property this will provide you with the grid references. Alternatively you can send us a Land Registry plan outlining the property and we can provide you with the grid references. You can either fax this to 01732 897
_530, email to
sales@clsl.co.uk, or post to CLS Ltd, Suite 5, 40 Churchill Square, Kings Hill, West Malling, Kent ME19 4YU.
What is the difference between a ChancelCheck® search and a Full Chancel Repair Search?
A
ChancelCheck® search is a screening report which identifies whether a property lies within an area which has the potential to charge for repairs to the Parish Church Chancel. A Full Chancel Repair Search takes this one step further and by way of a manual search at The National Archives identifies whether the property in question is specifically liable. However, if a Full Chancel Repair Search is carried out and the property is identified as definitely liable, this liability will need to be registered on the title deeds of the property (as it is recognised as an overriding interest) and insurance to cover this liability will be considerably more expensive.
Please note, the reference to a Full Chancel Repair Search is slightly misleading as there are records relating to Chancel Repair Liability which are not searched during this process. Namely these records include those relating to Corn Rent and Enclosure Award liability. However, these records are searched when a
ChancelCheck® search is carried out and so if the property is identified as being potentially liable for Chancel Repairs due to one of these records, a Full Chancel Repair search cannot be carried out.
How do I order a Full Chancel Repair Search?
To order a Full Chancel Repair Search you will need to email the following details to
sales@clsl.co.uk:
- The full property address
- A map/plan of the property
- The report number of any ChancelCheck® search that has been carried out on the property
Please be aware that Full Chancel Repair Searches take 7-10 working days to complete and so your response will not be immediate. However, we do endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.
I haven’t received my order, what can I do?
Orders should be sent to you by email within minutes of ordering. However, during busy periods they can take up to 30 minutes to come through. You will need to check you Junk Email Inbox for the orders as they are sent directly from the website and some systems recognise them as Junk. However, if after 30 minutes you have still not received your order and it has not been delivered to your Junk Inbox, please call our client services team on 01732 897
_530 who will be happy to resend the order.
How do I cancel a policy?
You have 14 days to cancel a policy from the date of issue. If for any reason you do need to cancel a policy please email our sales department (
sales@clsl.co.uk) giving the invoice number and the reason for cancellation and we will look into this for you.
Can a policy be amended?
ChancelSure® insurance policies can be amended. However,
ChancelCheck® searches and
ConveySure® insurance policies cannot. If you require an amendment to be made to a
ChancelSure® policy please email our sales department (
sales@clsl.co.uk) giving the policy number, what you need amending and the reason for this. If you require an amendment to be made to a ChancelCheck search or
ConveySure® policy you will unfortunately need to cancel this and re-order it on the website. Please be aware that when you re-order the policy you will need to change the client reference slightly as otherwise the system will recognise the order as a duplicate and block it from being processed.
My firm has an account with you but I do not have any log-in details, do I need to register on the website?
No, we can simply add you as a user to the existing account. To do this please contact our client services team on
sales@clsl.co.uk, and they will be happy to assist in this matter.
